Lightroom 1.3 PDF Print E-mail

Hello again!

I have some great news! Abode has release the next point release of Photoshop Lightroom [v1.3], and while I just upgraded about an hour ago, I have to say I LIKE IT!

Adobe says that it adds the following:

• Additional camera support for the Canon 1Ds Mark III, Nikon D3, Nikon D300, Olympus E-3, and more [COOL!]
• Updated Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard support [Good for the Mac folks out there]
● The import dialog now offers the option to render 1:1 previews as part of the import process [I've been hoping they'd add this!]
● The export dialog layout has been enhanced [This is an understatement, it's really spiffed up BIG TIME]
● A Lightroom Preview Export SDK is available for developers to create and distribute Export Plug-ins. Further details
are located on Adobe Labs

And that it has the following fixes:

● Writing XMP metadata automatically has been corrected for performance issues [Very noticable improvement in speed!!!]
● Printing with the native resolution option enabled no longer sets the wrong dimension for portrait oriented images
● Prior to Camera Raw 4.3 there was the possibility that artifacts in edge transitions could be introduced through the
Bayer demosaic and luminance noise reductions algorithms. This has been corrected.
● The Canon sRAW format and the Fuji compressed RAF formats are now supported.

Not as many changes in the user interface as last time, however, it is very noticably faster on the windows platform.

Then there are a couple things they didn't mention.

The first really cool thing they added is when dragging images from the filmstrip, or from the grid view it drags a mini thumbnail! SO COOL! And they have also added several new web gallery types that are really super cool, the postcard viewer galler just rocks and sent me slack jawed when I first let it run!

So go get the update at: Windows or Macintosh

Chad and Jeremy Came to Tampa PDF Print E-mail

Back on September 27, Chad and Jeremy, the British invasion folk duo came to Tampa, FL. I had the fine fortune to be given the honor of shooting the concert. It was alot of fun to be able to perform this service, and below are a few sample pics from that entertaining evening.

Not Photography Related But... PDF Print E-mail

If you like asian food and are in Chicago and around the Diversey and Clark general area check out Barberry at 2819 N Southport!

Wow! They are really really good, don't bring a large group though they only have seating in a small (read 5 or 6 small tables) in little loft area.

Colorful rustic paintings on the tables, a large screen TV, and just really great food. Check 'em out.

Attention Lightroom Users! PDF Print E-mail

While I was surfing around looking for some info on the deep dark secrets of lightroom, I ran across a nice little gem of a site. Perhaps you have heard of them already, perhaps not. The site in question is the lightroom resource center at photoshopsupport.com. Good stuff! Lots of tutorials, tips, tricks, and more!

I also found this cool site for downloading and tutorials on how to make your own web templates for use in lightroom: Lightroom Galleries  check them out!

I hope you find these useful, I did :)

Hello again! I just found yet another site for identifying nature subjects.
What's That Bug at http://www.whatsthatbug.com/ is a really good site for identifying the various insects you may run across in your photographic journeys. Also, please note that we do have quite a few links for identifying various flora and fauna. I hope you find these useful! As always have fun!

Lucky Oliver PDF Print E-mail
stock photos, royalty free stock photography, photo search   A relatively new microstock/midstock phototography site out there is Lucky Oliver . The site is very well done, and is a great example of web 2.0 with lots of excellent use of AJAX to allow you to edit in place. The designers have a great sense of humor that shines through, yet they manage to maintain a very professional image. The web design is A#1 and as a person who develops large web applications, I must say that this site is truly impressive.

If you are a photographer or illustrator this is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new site poised to take off like a fireworks show!

If you are a designer or graphic artist they have quite a large selection of images for your dancing and licensing pleasure.

My portfolio on their site is available here: Mce128's Profile
